Researching Context in Literature

5ème Shakespeare Puppet Theatre Project

As part of their study of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, 5ème students recently collaborated in small “acting troupes” to reinterpret and perform a key scene from Act III, Scene 2. 

Animal Farm Project

In this interdisciplinary project, Ms Cox's 5e students creatively reimagined key moments from George Orwell’s Animal Farm.

Book Clubs and Bracelets

To mark the end of their Victorian Novel book clubs, Miss Scott’s 6ème students made book club bracelets, showcasing both their humour and their understanding of the novels. 

Wind Symbolism in Animal Farm

Ms Cox's 5e classes have created physical windmills linked to the symbolic significance of wind in this semester's novel.

Mrs Buxton's 5eD class have been using Animal Farm as inspiration for persuasive speech writing.

Students in Mr Leaver's 6ème History-Geography class have been combining imagination, creativity, knowledge and inference skills to produce travel posters for Ancient Rome.

The Verona Times

Ms Cox's 3e class have written their own Romeo and Juliet newspaper.

A Perfect School

The SIS is excited to participate in the Poetry by Heart Middle School competition again this year and is looking for student performers to join.

3eD at Gounod have recently produced their own games inspired by their study of 'The Great Gatsby' and 'Romeo and Juliet' this year.

Maria, Quitterie and Anna gave extraordinary performances of their chosen poems at the annual ELSA Poetry by Heart competitions in Paris on Friday 10th March (middle school contest) and Saturday 11th (high school contest)

For this competition, students needed to learn and then perform a poem of their own choice from the Poetry by Heart anthology (two poems for the high school contest).

"All the world's a stage..." This month, 6e classes welcome professional actor Conor Short for some dynamic Shakespeare workshops.

London or Edinburgh?? The Wheel of Fortune will decide for our 4e students which trip they will go on in May 2023. 

Auditions for The Play

Students in 4e-Terminale are invited to participate in this year's theatre project which will be performed on March 29-30, 2023 at SEL in Sèvres.
